About amy

Hi, I'm Amy!

I live in Sonoma with my husband and two kiddos. In my free time, you can find me in the garden, running 5ks or hanging at the park with my kids & dog.

As your Doula, I will provide continuous non-judgmental support for you and your family, in a caring and respectful manner. I engage in my work with warmth, humor, enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge. I will listen to your thoughts and desires, and implement them as much as possible on your journey. I build a bridge to connect your care team and play the critical roles of educator and supporter, so you and your partner can enter birth with confidence, clarity, and a stronger bond than ever. I care deeply for my clients and want you to be completely satisfied at the end of our time together.

A few other hats that I wear:

- www.BetterBirthSonoma.com A website I manage that is a collective list of unbiased resources to help you have a well-rounded experience during your pregnancy.

- www.AmyHeaneyPhotography.com I offer maternity, birth & newborn photography.

I love what I do and I'm so honored to have this magical job in a wonderful place like Northern California. I look forward to meeting you!

training & experience

My journey into the "birth world" began in 2011 during the pregnancy of my first child. From then on, I became obsessed with all things pregnancy & birth. In 2015, I took my first Doula training and have been supporting clients ever since.

Over the years, I have made sure to keep attending training's, reading new research and staying up to date on all of the latest evidence-based information to ensure I am giving my clients the most recent, valuable information available to them.

Some of my training includes:

- DONA International

- International Postpartum & Placenta Association (IPPA)

- Birth Arts International

- Postpartum Doula Certification program

- Childbirth Education Certification program

- Lactation Specialist Certification program

- Spinning Babies workshop

Along the way, I have studied extensively about nutrition, taken a course for Hypnosis for pregnancy/birth & have also completed many additional classes on breastfeeding support. I trained as a massage therapist over 15 years ago, so I bring that type of knowledge and comfort to all my laboring and birthing families, as well.

I am dedicated to continuing education & look forward to all of the new information I have the opportunity to soak in throughout my future.
